A wet morning but several Blue Jays, Common Grackles, House Sparrows and Mourning Doves were around.
Also a Downy Woodpecker enjoying suet.

A Downy Woodpecker, some Common Grackles, Blue Jays, House Sparrow and Red-winged Blackbird spotted early this morning.
It's cloud and cool today, we are expecting on and off rain over the next several days.
EDIT
It is even colder this afternoon...40 degrees but feels like 32 degrees with the NE winds off the ocean. Actually feels like it could snow.

Cold and windy today, a few flurries in the air. We lost power for few hours at work this morning.
Blue Jays, Startings, Common Grackles and House Sparrow were around earlier.
A chipmunk scampered by the yard too, I saw another one earlier this week in the woods.

Not too many birds around this morning, but after a short walk I think I figured out why - there was a Sharp-shinned Hawk nearby.

Wednesday 2/19 cold but not as windy this morning.
Many hungry birds spotted earlier - House Sparrow, Blue Jay, Northern Cardinal, Chickadee, WB Nuthatch, WT sparrow, Tufted Titmouse, Red bellied Woodpecker.
I have seen a couple of social media posts on what i suspected - we are having out coldest winter in nearly a decade here in New England.

This isn't bird feeding but I just saw a huge flock of Crows all around a local McDonald's. There were probably 50 or more with some Seagulls and maybe a Grackle mixed in.
Maybe they're just gathering prior to our small storm tonight.

I'm back at work today, but yesterday was busy with my feeders. We had about 3 inches of snow overnight.
The highlight was a pair of Eastern Towhee, they're usually very shy.
There were also House Sparrows, Blue Jays, Carolina Wren, Tufted Titmouse, Red-bellied Woodpecker around.

Time to celebrate it's our month!

We had 2 inches of snow overnight, so I did not see too many birds this morning while cleaning off the cars.
I heard some Blue Jays and Mourning Doves.
A Downy Woodpecker was back on my suet feeder Sunday morning.

It was nice to see a Tufted Titmouse and a Red-bellied Woodpecker at my home feeders yesterday before and during the snow!
White-throated sprarrow

A flock of White-throated sprarrow are back in my neighborhood.
They seem to be more fall and winter visitors around here, even though range maps says they are year round residents. I think they come a little more south for winter - southern New England.

I met some crows today.
More accurately, I was heading to take a walk on the Ten Mile River Greenway, which is a bike/walking trail about 6 miles from my house, and as I was pulling onto a side street, I noticed a bunch of them over in the plaza nearby.
So I stopped by, and it turned out there were like, 30 of them. Mix of Fish Crows and American Crows. (Fish Crows are smaller, and sound more nasal.)
Because I look for both blue jays and crows, I keep a bag of peanuts in my car, so I was supplied tobribe make friends with them. (In theory, at least, non-mated crows roost communally, and sometimes travel a bunch (up to 60 kilometers), so it's not inconceivable I could meet some of these folks again.)

( Two more crow pictures, cut for space. )
As I was parking for the actual walk, I met several killdeer, which I have never seen in the area before. It's a shorebird, and I don't think of them as being an inland bunch, but they do hang out on lawns and other such areas. This was on the lawn of a manufacturing business, and Providence, which is where I technically was, is sort of on the ocean. Still -- felt weird!

On my walk, I saw my first Osprey of spring (they migrate down to Mexico in the winter), a few ducks and Mute Swans, and the requisite Red-Winged Blackbirds and Grackles.
