Today is cloudy, chilly, and wet. It rained last night, off and on today too.
I fed the birds. I've seen a mixed flock of sparrows and house finches, a male cardinal, and a downy woodpecker.
EDIT 12/31/24 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.
I put out a fresh peanut suet cake.
I am done for the night.

Thoughts
Date: 2025-01-01 12:26 am (UTC)I suggest putting out plenty of suet, peanut butter, or other high-fat foods for hungry birds. Does your yard have anywhere for them to shelter out of the wind?

Date: 2025-01-01 12:39 am (UTC)It's frosty, but the real cold is still to come, usually later in January. (Hopefully not down to -40...)

Huh. Local tastes do vary. Sunflower and peanut are good high-energy foods too.

Yeah, that is seriously cold.
