An army of House Finches...

Yesterday was foggy, drizzley and chilly. The House Finches swarmed the Flowering Quince for a bit, chattering loudly. There were a good 3 dozen or so of them at any given time. A random Cardinal and Carolina Wren would show up, but not stick around long. The Wren tried yelling at the Finches, but gave up pretty quickly.

Guess they really like my front porch. Heh.

At least. They were hard to count as they kept coming and going, but the bush was full of them, and it's by no means a small bush.

That's awesome.

I often have house finches here, maybe up to a dozen, but I don't think I've had three dozen. Sparrows and blackbirds, maybe mourning doves, I see in larger numbers.

I only see them in these numbers this time of year. Otherwise, it's only a pair or two.

They must use that as an overwintering spot. :D

Quite possibly. We've worked hard to make the property more bird and wildlife friendly. It's starting to show.
