Birdfeeding
Aug. 27th, 2023 02:38 pmToday is sunny and warm.
I haven't gone outside yet, but I saw a female cardinal and a small bird that I didn't get a close look at. The small one was darkish and had flashes of yellow on the tail. My first thought was a goldfinch but it didn't look quite right for that. Of Illinois birds with yellow markings, the closest is a female American redstart.
EDIT 8/27/23 -- I fed the birds. I've seen more finches, probably house finches, possibly a female goldfinch.
EDIT 8/27/23 -- I picked up sticks in the ritual meadow.
I've seen a fox squirrel on the hopper feeder.

Date: 2023-08-28 09:11 pm (UTC)There are so many feeders in this area I think the hummingbirds must have gotten used to the variety of weird block thingies with little openings that dispense sugar water. He's been going straight to that since it was put out.
