Birdfeeding

Today is sunny and hot.  No rain last night, alas.

I fed the birds.  I've seen a few house finches and a fox squirrel.

I put out water for the birds and watered a few plants.

EDIT 7/24/23 -- I watered the septic garden and plants in the yard by the house.

EDIT 7/24/23 -- I watered the telephone pole garden, wildflower garden, tulip bed and its grass patch. 

Fireflies are coming out.  Bats are flying over the driveway.

As it is now dark, I am done for the night.

Fireflies and bats are such a quintessential part of a Midwestern summer. We do have the bats, even right in the city, even where there are no fireflies. I love the patterns theyi make against the sky.

Seeing lots of fireflies and bats here right now too.

The other day I saw a house finch so red that I did a double take. Thought it was a small cardinal.
