Birdfeeding

Today is sunny and hot.

I haven't fed the birds yet, but I've seen a pair of house finches.

We did a lot of work on the old mulch pile. We picked up both heaps of green brush and hauled them to the ritual meadow. Then we picked up another wheelbarrow of older brush and hauled it too. A majority of the footprint is now clear. \o/

EDIT 5/5/23 -- I fed the birds and put out water for them.

We cut a lot of brush on the mow path through the forest yard, where it starts near the south lot. There are at least a couple of redbuds and a gooseberry back in there that I didn't even plant.

EDIT 5/5/23 -- I raked one path through the prairie garden so I can sow wildflower seed later.

EDIT 5/5/23 -- I saw a pair of cardinals at the hopper feeder, and the male was feeding the female. <3 courting behavior!

I dug weeds from the garden by the telephone pole.

EDIT 5/5/23 -- I finished raking the path in the prairie garden.

EDIT 5/5/23 -- I have pretty much finished digging weeds out of the flower garden near the telephone pole.

EDIT 5/5/23 -- I watered the gardens near the telephone pole and support wire, and the wildflower garden. There are pink, blue, and white flowers blooming in the wildflower garden. I think these are Spanish bluebells.

I saw a bat! :D It was flying over the driveway. They like that space for hunting because it's a clear fly lane with trees overhead. This is the first one I've seen this spring. We have plenty of bats around here.

As it is now dark, I am done for the night.
