When is your last frost date? For those of us in temperate climates, that's a key factor in what to plant when. Search by zip code, by list, or by map.

Among the most popular gardening communities on Dreamwidth are [community profile] gardening and [community profile] common_nature. Both are most active in the warm season, so they're speeding up now. They feature a mix of text and picture posts from gardeners and nature lovers around the world. The main difference is that the first focuses specifically on gardening, while the second is more general nature and outdoor stuff.  Here's a list of more nature communities for you to explore and some other resources.

Since last year I've run a recurring post on different aspects of landrace gardening. That recently concluded, but you can still find those posts in my Recurring Posts tag. If you have a hard time gardening due to climate, consider landraces as a possible solution, because they can adapt to darn near anything with their superior genetic diversity. I bought some to try planting this year out of curiosity, but the landrace marigolds I started last year? Are already volunteering in the pots because screw frost dates. They bloomed clear to the hard freeze last fall and were very popular with the late pollinators.  If you're gardening for birds, consider the Zuni Landrace Sunflowers.  For a larval food garden, check out Albanian Landrace Dill or Lofthouse Landrace Carrots to attract swallowtails.

Does anyone else have more resources for gardening or related activities on Dreamwidth?
