Birdfeeding

Today is sunny and quite warm.

I fed the birds and put out water for them.

Over the last several days I have seen many birds including: a flock of sparrows, a flock of mourning doves, a flock of assorted blackbirds including grackles and brown-headed cowbirds, a small flock of house finches, a small flock of goldfinches with the males mostly in their yellow summer coats, several robins, two blue jays, and a fox squirrel.

I have done much yardwork. My partner Doug got the ritual meadow and most of the path in the prairie garden mowed.

Violets are in full bloom, as are mid-to-late daffodils. Early tulips are blooming. Early grape hyacinths are winding down but the later ones are blooming vigorously. Pear and cherry trees are blooming. Lilacs are just starting to open.

I watered plants.

Lily of the valley is sprouting along the north edge of the house.

EDIT 4/14/23 -- I started picking up sticks in the savanna, which is the next target for mowing. I filled the trolley halfway around the wild cherry grove. :/

EDIT 4/14/23 -- I finished picking up sticks in the east end of the savanna.

EDIT 4/14/23 -- I desticked the middle of the savanna as far as the wildflower garden. I still need to do the west end, though.

As it is now dark, I am done for the night.
