A large flock of assorted blackbirds were around early this morning - Common Grackles, Cowbirds and Red winged Blackbirds made a big racket. A little while later a group of 7 Wild Turkeys battled the Blue Jays for peanuts.

There was a Northern Cardinal couple around too.

So early for blackbirds, at least in my area. Last year the redwings arrived early, then were confused because their food and perches hadn't grown yet. 0_o

They appear in that locale fairly often. I was just telling someone that we had a member with a regular flock of wild turkeys. I've only seen them once in central Illinois.
