Forgiven by Woodpeckers
Apr. 2nd, 2023 04:48 pm So, after we made that nice little house to protect the suet from the starlings? Woodpeckers wouldn't touch it. The little downy woodpeckers got over it first (I love those guys), then today I saw the red bellied and heard the northern flicker screaming in the tree above me.
I have 3 robins visiting the yard regularly. The usual suspects have all been around, and some of them are increasingly bold when I'm in the yard. Sparrows, cardinals, doves, titmice, juncos, jays, grackles, starlings.
It's warm enough to open windows today. The spring bulbs are all taking off. I'm waiting for the forsythia to bloom to start on spring yardwork.

Progress.

That's good to hear.

Yay! My forsythia is blooming a bit.
I take advantage of cold-season days that are not unbearable to cut brush when I can actually see what I'm doing.
