Birds

Today is National Bird Day! I saw this on Facebook and a few other places earlier today.

I saw Blue Jays, Mourning Doves, several Sparrows and 2 White-breasted Nuthatches so far.

That's a cool holiday.

Huh, I still need to look up the bird holidays and write them in my calendar so I can post about them.

I'm with you. I did put more bird / wildlife holidays in my calendar, in hopes of posting about some.

I didn't see any. There were none out in the morning before work, and it was dark when I got home. I only looked outside once at work, and didn't notice any (though I seldom see anything but a few gulls).

I didn't see many today, just some sparrows, until I went to the ritual meadow. Then I saw several cardinals and flushed the great horned owl.

It was hooting all night last night.

I hear them now and then, but I've only seen one once. It was sitting on a branch, silhouetted against the night sky.

Ours mostly lives in the trees above the ritual meadow, so going out that way has a fair chance of seeing him. :D
