Jan. 3rd, 2026 07:31 pmIt is snowy and cold here in Tallinn, Estonia.
Yesterday, 02/01:
Saw and heard one very active hooded crow.
They are quite present in the area I live, but I had not ventured outside for some time.

Wow!
Date: 2026-01-03 06:40 pm (UTC)Yay! It's fun to hear about far places. We have members from several countries. :D
Here in central Illinois, USA it is chilly but not currently snowy.
Also, I edited the tag to say location: estonia. The location tags are fairly broad so that we don't wind up with too many of them.

I've heard of hooded crows, but I had to look it up to remember exactly what they looked like.
Do they play in the snow like American crows sometimes do?

Most of the crows we have here are this species, though I have seen fully black crows as well. I haven't personally seen them play in it, but I am pretty sure they do, it sounds like an overall crow thing.

But if we had lots of Canadians, we could switch to provinces there. Some USA states are huge with diverse habitats. If we had enough folks posting from California, I could see splitting that into Northern / Central / Southern or something.
I'm so happy to have you from Estonia! I don't think we've got anyone else near there.

They love snowboarding.
