I saw some sandhill cranes in the yard not long ago. There was a juvenile and two adults. They are common in the area, but I've only seen them in the yard once or twice. Photo taken with my phone, through the blinds.
We've always had herons but they stick to water, of course, so they never come to our yard. Cranes have only been around here for... fifteen to twenty years?
