Birdfeeding
Feb. 25th, 2025 12:53 pmToday is sunny and cool.
I fed the birds. I've seen a flock of sparrows and several starlings.
I put out water for the birds.

Date: 2025-02-27 08:35 pm (UTC)When I was little, it started snowing in late November or early December, and we saw the ground again in March. Sometimes we'd get a mid-January thaw enough to show a few grass patches but no more.
Now it rarely snows. It rained on Christmas Eve these year. >_<
Spring flowers used to sprout in March, and we would watch eagerly for them. Then it crept back to February. By January it stopped being fun and became alarming. Now they often sprout in December and diapause, holding at sprout stage for a few months. Blooming in February is just bizarre.
Insects are stirring on warmish days even in the cold season. Mostly I've seen ladybugs, but there are a few other things creeping or even flying around. I haven't seen bees yet, but in recent years they would mob the crocuses on a sunny day.
