Added two more to my life list today -  they were around the suet feeder together. I'm surprised I could see them long enough and well enough for an ID, that is difficult for me to pull off. Bigger birds though.

Red-bellied woodpecker
Northern flicker

Then when I went out with the dog, it scared off the bigger birds and a male downy woodpecker came to eat on the suet feeder.

Oh, I love both your new birds! The call of the red-bellied woodpecker is so great, too.

And flicker behavior shows how they got their name. They are so elusive and jumpy. Though possibly less so when there's suet to be had.

Yay!

Woodpeckers are awesome. :D Mine prefer the peanut butter suet. We've been stuck buying regular suet with seeds in it, which the woodpeckers like less and starlings like more.
