I've started feeding the local crows. They have such interesting personalities, and I've been enjoying the process of understanding how they see and communicate. For example, they pay attention to my face, and will come closer to me if I'm facing away from them.

They're very alert to gaze, because they are social birds who like to cache things. For that to work, they need to know who is watching or not when they hide something. Or pretend to hide it.
