A Little Free Library is a place for people to share things. The original featured books. But there are also Little Free Pantries, Little Free Plant Libraries, Little Free Seed Libraries, Giveboxes, and more. Fall is the peak season for gathering seeds, and also for planting bulbs that will bloom in spring. Both can go in either a seed library or a plant library. So now is a good time to set up something like this in your neighborhood -- or perhaps at a park, garden center, or other public place. This is especially good for spreading native species and bird garden plants.

There are many, many variations. It works best with nonperishable things, but anything with somewhat of a shelf life has potential. Some seeds are really durable. Bulbs are tough little packets. A greenhouse of live plants, you'd want to keep an eye on, so it's best in a front yard or a high-traffic park. Seed / bulb / plant libraries are mostly seasonal things, but in winter, you might pop in some artificial flowers matched to an upcoming holiday.

Other types of seed library or plant swap are also possible. I got my most durable hostas from one. They're plain little green leaves, but tough as nails and they spread. :D

I'll have Shithouse Marigold seeds later in the season if anybody wants some, and probably reseeding morning glories.
