Birdfeeding

Today is cloudy and cool.

I fed the birds. I've seen a flock of sparrows and a fox squirrel.

I started raking leaves off the daffodil bed. The sprouts are big enough that if I don't remove the leaf mulch it'll squash the leaves, even though the weather is still cold.

EDIT 2/6/23 -- I raked more leaves off the daffodil bed. The front side is clear now.

EDIT 2/6/23 -- I finished raking off the daffodil bed. \o/

EDIT 2/6/23 -- I cut brush on the east edge of the daffodil bed. I saw that some of the volunteer daffodils are peeking through the gravel of the parking lot.

I've seen a pair of cardinals and a female downy woodpecker.

As it is getting dark, I am done for the night.

I heard the nuthatch and the cedar waxwing this morning and *again couldn't find them.*

Neighbor's witch hazel is blooming but nothing else even peeking up.

Oh, that's frustrating. But at least they are around.

An interesting thing about witch hazel is it blooms all through the cold season. There are different types that bloom from late fall through early spring.
