Today is partly sunny, steamy, and hot.

I haven't fed the birds yet. I've seen a flock of house finches and Nipple squirrel (a fox squirrel).

Just now I saw a gray squirrel! :D We had one a while back but I hadn't seen it recently. I believe this one is a young squirrel recently dispersed from another habitat. It's a bit on the small side with a narrower tail that isn't fully bushed out yet. A gray squirrel looks similar to a fox squirrel but the belly is white and the tail halo is too, rather than yellow to fawn.

I fed the birds. I've seen a lady cardinal.

I put out water for the birds and watered a few plants.

Last night I put the acorns to soak, and 2 of the 6 have sunk, thus are worth potting up to see if they'll sprout.

EDIT 8/4/24 -- I potted up the 2 good acorns. I still need to label those. I also buried the other 4 in the yard just in case.

EDIT 8/4/24 -- My partner Doug helped me move some pots from the patio and old picnic table to the new picnic table.

EDIT 8/4/24 -- I did a bit of work in the septic garden, and took a few pictures around the yard.

EDIT 8/4/24 -- I did some work around the patio.

EDIT 8/4/24 -- I watered the patio plants and picnic table.

EDIT 8/4/24 -- I watered seedlings in the savanna.

EDIT 8/4/24 -- I watered the septic garden, telephone pole garden, and grass patch. One of the sunflowers in the septic garden is blooming a deep chocolatey red. The others have more yellow; one is streaked and one has a brown center. Very pretty.

As it is getting dark, I am done for the night.
