Birdfeeding

Today is sunny and hot.

I haven't fed the birds yet, but I've seen a couple of fledgling robins in the forest garden. Often parent birds bring their young ones to the feeder as a way of divesting responsibility. :D

The first of the blackberry lilies is blooming beside the barrel garden.

EDIT 6/24/24 -- I fed the birds. I've seen several sparrows and house finches.

I put out water for the birds and watered a few plants. There are at least a dozen honeybees on the metal birdbath.

I startled a northern flicker in the prairie garden, among the sunchokes.

I've seen a grackle in the forest garden.

EDIT 6/24/24 -- I watered the tower strip and monarch strip in the prairie garden.

I saw a barn swallow swooping along the driveway.  They used to be common around here but have become rare nowadays.

Fireflies are coming out.

I've seen chips in the driveway where a woodpecker has been drilling overhead.

As it is getting dark, I am done for the night.
