Today is partly sunny and warm. It's 78°F, which is a big improvement over 90°F. Last night we got plenty of thunder but just a stingy drizzle of rain that evaporated almost immediately. :/

I put my plants in pots outside to get some sun.

EDIT 5/22/24 -- I fed the birds. I've seen several house finches.

I trimmed grass at the edge of the prairie garden to make a spot for planting the last of the raspberries.

In the savanna, the trees are full of cicadas, hanging in all the branches like strange dark fruit.

EDIT 5/22/24 -- I planted the 'Jewel' black raspberry at the edge of the prairie garden.

EDIT 5/22/24 -- I trimmed grass to make a spot for planting one of the juneberries in the west hedge of the savanna.

It's starting to spit rain.

EDIT 5/22/24 -- We walked around the savanna and prairie garden to see what needed to be remowed, and my partner is out doing that now.

I'm pleased to see that last year's notch where I was planting things has pinks blooming. :D

So I started trimming grass under the maple tree between the house yard and south lot. I still need to do brush-trimming before I can plant things there.

EDIT 5/22/24 -- I did the brush-trimming under the maple.

Just after I finished that, my partner finished mowing, so we walked around to see that work too.

EDIT 5/22/24 -- I planted the first 'Autumn Joy' sedum under the maple tree. Although it is domesticated, it is enormously popular with pollinators; this stuff is always crawling with insects the moment it starts blooming in late summer or early fall. It's especially favored by blue-winged wasps, whom I want to encourage to prey on the junebug and Japanese beetle larvae. So I decided to plant more of it because they love it so much.

EDIT 5/22/24 -- I planted the other 'Autumn Joy' sedum under the maple tree.

EDIT 5/22/24 -- I planted a 'Variegatum' stonecrop under the maple tree.

EDIT 5/22/24 -- I planted a 'Sunsparkler Firecracker' sedum to the left of the 'Autumn Joys' under the maple tree. That's the last of the sedum to plant. \o/

EDIT 5/22/24 -- I watered plants.

EDIT 5/22/24 -- I planted a 'Jennybelle' juneberry in the west hedge of the savanna.

EDIT 5/22/24 -- I watered plants.

EDIT 5/22/24 -- I raked the notch in the prairie garden where I plan to sow wildflower seeds.

EDIT 5/22/24 -- I watered plants.

I brought in the few potted plants left in the tray.

As it is now dark, I am done for the night.
