Birdfeeding
Apr. 13th, 2024 03:21 pmToday is sunny and warm with a light breeze. :D
I fed the birds. I've seen a small flock of house finches, a grackle, and a fox squirrel.
I put out water for the birds.
I put a layer of dead leaves into the giant pot. This will provide a barrier to keep the potting soil inside the pot, away from the drainage layers of sticks and the drain holes below.
EDIT 4/13/24 -- I put the giant pot in its place just southeast of the septic garden beside the cap, sitting in a thin plastic water tray. Then I added about 3 gallons of compost and manure. This will provide food for plants later.
I saw a large bird fly into the yard, which I believe to be a turkey vulture. It was hard to see from my angle, but it was probably just 20-30 feet away. Hopefully some of the pictures will turn out visible.
EDIT 4/13/24 -- I put the potting soil into the giant pot. It wound up taking the whole 32-quart (8-gallon) bag to fill the remaining space.
I've heard red-winged blackbirds singing overhead but haven't seen them.
EDIT 4/13/24 -- I picked up branches in the yard by the house to put in the firepit. Again.
EDIT 4/13/24 -- I picked up sticks in the yard by the house to put in the firepit.
As it is getting dark, I am done for the night.
