Birdfeeding

Today is partly sunny and mild.

I fed the birds. I've seen a flock of sparrows and a pair of cardinals.

There are honeybees everywhere again. They are swarming the crocuses in the goddess garden. I cut open an orange to put out for them. After a couple minutes, one bee landed on it, sampled the goods, then flew away straight northwest. So there is a beehive somewhere in that direction. I walked out that way and examined all the trees with holes in them, but did not see or hear bees around any of those. I did see more bees in the savanna though.

More crocuses are beginning to bloom elsewhere too. There is a yellow one in the rain garden, a yellow and a purple-and-white under the golden rain tree.

I took a few pictures but haven't gotten all the new crocuses yet.

I started trimming dead stems from the wildflower garden.

EDIT 2/22/24 -- I trimmed more dead stems from the wildflower garden. This concludes the first major trim in and around the garden. I still need to rake it to see what straggles are left to tidy up, and rake around it to remove all the stuff I've cut. But already it looks much neater. Plus almost nothing but grass has even sprouted yet, so can use the yard rake.

EDIT 2/22/24 -- I got the wildflower garden raked and some of the stems picked up.  I dumped two trolleys of stems in the prairie garden just in case there are any seeds left.

As it is getting dark and I am exhausted, I am done for the night. *goflopnow*
