Plant Shopping

Today I finished my order for Prairie Moon Nursery. \o/  Most of these are plants that attract birds, such as the serviceberry; or host caterpillars that attract birds, such as the pussy willow.  I keep hoping that if I plant enough serviceberries, eventually it'll get like the mulberries where after the birds eat some, there are still some left for me.  I've gotten a few, but usually the birds beat me to the serviceberries, and I like those because they taste a lot like blueberries.

Nice! I plan to get Rosa arkansana at some point, that's the common local species.

Around here we have lots of knee-high wild roses in pink to white, occasionally a creamy yellow, that bloom alongside the road or sometimes forest edges. I suspect this is the same type. There are many variations on that basic theme spread around different regions.
