Here are some pictures of my yard from Friday, January 21, 2024 when it snowed. The pictures turned out kind of dark, probably from the sparkly light overwhelming the camera. We're starting in the yard by the house, which is on the east side.
This is the view looking east from the house. You can see the barrel garden.

This is a closeup of the barrel garden with its hook and a couple of hanging pots. To the left is a kinetic sculpture blown over by the wind. It's fine, I just haven't set it back up. That happens a lot.

The picnic table holds a bunch of pots for the container garden. The bush right next to it is where the sparrows like to roost.

This is the forest garden just outside the kitchen window. It holds a bunch of different birdfeeders.

The oriole feeder is orange and has pegs for hanging fruit, although the birds prefer fruit on the old metal tray feeder. It used to have a couple of glass dishes for jelly but they didn't last long.

This is the new metal feeder that looks like a flower. It's very pretty. The birds haven't touched it. The top tray is supposed to hold seeds but mostly fills with water. I still like it. Sometimes the birds and I have very different tastes. Also they care fuckall about what they are "supposed" to like.

This is the old metal tray feeder. It has holes in the tray so the water drains out, but will still hold seeds. The sparrows and cardinals like this one.

The thistle sock and the corncob hang in the forest garden. Squirrels have been very slow eating corn this year. Nothing has eaten the thistle seed in a while. Some years we have goldfinches over the winter, but I haven't seen any in months.

This is the hopper feeder in the forest garden. It holds songbird blend birdseed which is mostly black oil sunflower seed, some safflower seed, a few peanut pieces, and bits of dried fruit. Cardinals, sparrows, mourning doves, and dark-eyed juncos all love this.

You're welcome!

Sooth. I love snow.
