Birdfeeding

Today is cloudy and cold.

I fed the birds.  I've seen a flock of sparrows and a fox squirrel at the hopper feeder.

The stream was freezing over earlier this evening. ALL of the geese were out at the pond, though, and the heron was back in the water. :)

As long as they're in the water, their motion can discourage it from freezing. But once it freezes, they aren't strong enough to break a very thick layer of ice.

One of the coolest things I've seen was a flock of geese walking on water. The pond was frozen, but the top layer had thawed and the wind made ripples in the shallow water where the geese were. :D
