Birdfeeding

Today is sunny and mild.

I haven't fed the birds yet, but I've seen a flock of sparrows and a squirrel in the forest garden.

I planted the sassafras seedling from yesterday's plant shipment.

EDIT 3/30/23: I fed the birds. I've seen several mourning doves and a pair of house finches.

I walked around the yard thinking about where to plant the remaining tree seedlings.

Hostas are sprouting in the forest garden. The bigger bluebell has flower buds on it.

EDIT 3/30/23 -- I planted the sugar maple along the south edge of the streetside yard.

EDIT 3/30/23 -- I planted the sweetgum along the west edge of the streetside yard. That's this bundle finished! \o/ I still have mulching and other tasks to do, but the seedlings are all in the ground.

EDIT 3/30/23 -- I scooped up leaf mulch and put it around the white oak seedling.

That's great, that the trees arrived. Figuring out where to put things is a lot of fun.

Some things, I already have a specific place in mind for, like the oak seedling. Others it's more general, like sun or shade or a broad part of the yard, so I walk around and think where would be good.
