Another one from my bird cam. I like how this Cardinal seems to be telling the House Sprarrows to stop taking all the seed!

If you add some more safflower seed to the mix that should deter the sparrows and starlings a bit. The cardinals like it enough.

One that will discourage sparrows, but I don't know about starlings, is gray striped sunflower seed. It's bigger with harder shells which small birds struggle to crack, but cardinals can handle fine. Starlings have beaks for pecking, not so much for cracking seeds. They might be able to hammer it open, but I haven't seen them doing that.
