Birdfeeding

Today is sunny and cooler.

I haven't fed the birds yet. I've seen a large mixed flock of sparrows and housefinches, a flock of at least 12 goldfinches, and a tufted titmouse. I've also seen a fox squirrel running through the trees above the ritual meadow with a walnut in its mouth. :D

I finished planting the bag of 40 Three Months of Daffodils -- about 7 of them -- in the daffodil garden.  This concludes my bulb planting for this fall.

... but I might still go back to the Charleston Food Forest and gather other things to grow here.  I could easily save a hundred bucks for the cost of a few baggies and an hour or so of elbow grease.  Permaculture plants are rarely cheap and many of these are hard to find.

EDIT 11/12/24 -- I brought in the first of the ceramic pots from the picnic table.

EDIT 11/12/24 -- I brought in the rest of the ceramic pots from the picnic table.  These I emptied and put the remaining plants in the septic garden in case they want to keep growing a little longer.

EDIT 11/12/24 -- I fed the birds.  I've heard a woodpecker drumming but haven't seen it.

I put out water for the birds and watered a few plants.

EDIT 11/12/24 -- I transplanted the 3 ice plants from the new picnic table to the septic garden.  Previously I've tried overwintering them indoors but they always dry out and die.  :/  These claim to be cold-hardy so I'm trying this instead.

EDIT 11/12/24 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.

As the sun is setting, I am done for the night.
