Birdfeeding

Today is cloudy and chilly.
I fed the birds. I've seen a few sparrows. I heard red-winged blackbirds trilling but haven't seen them. I suspect they're hugging my yard because they arrived early and their customary homes aren't all that hospitable yet. Here they have trees for shelter, water to drink, seeds and a few early insects to eat, and other comforts.
I put out water for the birds.
The first blue-and-white violet is blooming along the south side of the house. :D The apricot tree with the fly-through feeder is blooming, and Russian comfrey is sprouting underneath.
EDIT 3/27/25 -- I watered seedlings.
I've seen a mixed flock of sparrows and house finches, along with several grackles.
EDIT 3/27/25 -- I started working on a terrarium in the big jar I found at the flea market. First I had to wash the jar and lid.
EDIT 3/27/25 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.
I've seen a flock of grackles, two mourning doves, and a fox squirrel.
EDIT 3/27/25 -- I did more work on the terrarium. I got the gravel layer down, the coco barrier layer cut and installed. I'm amazed how much faster and easier it was with proper tools. Those giant tweezers are awesome. No wonder Mom missed having proper lab tools to build terraria.
EDIT 3/27/25 -- I started raking leaves and dead stems from the wildflower garden. The last of the miniature irises are blooming there, along with at least one squill. Many more things are sprouting too. :D
As it is almost suppertime, I am done for the night.
