Today is sunny and warm.

I haven't fed the birds yet.  I've seen a flock of house finches.

I spread out the tarp and put another coat of waterproofing on one side of the wagonwheel.

EDIT 10/21/24 -- I fed the birds.  I've seen a titmouse, a male cardinal, a male downy woodpecker, and a bluejay.  When I went outside, though, I heard screaming from at least two directions, so there are still multiple bluejays around.  :D

EDIT 10/21/24 -- I flipped the wagonwheel and sprayed the second side.  That's basically done, except for waiting for it to dry so I can carry it down to the wagonwheel garden.

I coated the plywood chair seat with motor oil, a waterproofing trick suggested by a friend.  It was very easy to do, and I was surprised by how good it looked.  I was expecting dark brown or black, but the wood is an attractive amber gold.  \o/  I'll have to wait for that to soak in thoroughly before I water-test it.

I have seen three bluejays, two titmice, a starling, and a fox squirrel in the forest garden.  The bluejays seem to be favoring the peanuts from the songbird blend birdseed, which nobody else likes except maybe the squirrels, so that's cool.

EDIT 10/21/24 -- I watered the patio plants, picnic table, and septic garden.

I picked two 'Watermelon' tomatoes from the picnic table and one yellow pear tomato from the septic garden.

EDIT 10/21/24 -- I watered the savanna seedlings, prairie notch, white garden, telephone pole garden, and grass patch.

I've seen a bluejay at the fly-through feeder.

EDIT 10/21/24 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.

I moved the wagonwheel and the chair.

I've seen a robin in the forest garden.

EDIT 10/21/24 -- I watered the maple garden and the amethyst garden.

I picked up the tarp and bagged it in the trash.  For a disposable item, I got three uses out of it -- the picnic table earlier this summer, the wagonwheel yesterday and today, then the chair today.

As it is now dark, I am done for the night.

Hi everyone! I'm new here. At [personal profile] ysabetwordsmith's suggestion, I've come to share these beautiful woodblock prints by kachō-e artist Ohara Koson. According to Ronin Gallery, the first print is from around 1910, and the second is from around 1912. They are in the public domain, so feel free to share around!
