I have discovered....

That the crows go wild for peanuts in-shell.I had previously been feeding them shelled, unsalted peanuts, since that's what they have in bulk at the Asian grocery where I do a lot of my shopping. But they also had in-shell raw peanuts this week, so I got a bag of those, and the crows got so excited. There's at least four other people on my block who feed the crows, so they're pretty spoiled, but the moment I started throwing down the peanuts I had over a dozen of them following me.

Birdfeeding

Today is cloudy, chilly, and wet.  It rained last night, off and on today too.

I fed the birds.  I've seen a mixed flock of sparrows and house finches, a male cardinal, and a downy woodpecker.

EDIT 12/31/24 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.

I put out a fresh peanut suet cake.

I am done for the night.
