Birdfeeding

Today is sunny and mild, a beautiful fall day.

I fed the birds.  I've seen a flock of house finches at the hopper feeder.  I saw a hummingbird (presumably ruby-throated since that's all we get in central Illinois) at the barrel garden.  :D  Possible flowers of interest there include firecracker plant, salvias, petunias and million bells, morning glory, and Shithouse Marigolds.

EDIT 9/8/24 -- I watered the patio plants, picnic table, and septic garden.  Bees, predatory wasps, butterflies, and other pollinators are swarming the 'Autumn Joy' sedum and other flowers.

EDIT 9/8/24 -- I watered the seedlings in the savanna, telephone pole garden, and grass patch.

EDIT 9/8/24 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.

I've seen a juvenile cardinal at the hopper feeder.

I am done for the night.

Birdfeeding

Today is partly sunny and warm.

I fed the birds.  I've seen a flock of house finches, two mourning doves, at least two cardinals (a female and probably a juvenile), and a fox squirrel.

I put out water for the birds and watered a few plants.

EDIT 9/4/24 -- I watered the patio plants, picnic table, and septic garden.

More butterflies are appearing in the prairie garden as zinnias continue to expand and goldenrods are starting to bloom.  "Autumn Joy' sedum is in full bloom and covered with bees and predatory wasps.  Garlic chives are still blooming and also popular.

EDIT 9/4/24 -- I watered the recently planted bulbs.

I did a bit of work around the patio.

I've seen a male cardinal.

Crickets are singing.

As it is now dark, I am done for the night.
