Birdfeeding
Today is sunny and mild.
I haven't fed the birds yet. I've seen a large mixed flock of sparrows and house finches, several starlings, and a lady cardinal. When I went outside, I saw at least three fox squirrels running around the trees harvesting nuts. :D
Bees are visiting the Shithouse Marigolds. As fewer flowers keep blooming, pollinators flock to the last ones.
I planted 12 winter aconite in the goddess garden.
EDIT 10/24/24 -- I planted 10 Orange Monarch snow crocuses in the goddess garden.
EDIT 10/24/24 -- I fed the birds. I poured off the thistle seed from one of the new feeders into the other, and filled one with the new finch seed mix.
I put out water for the birds and watered a few plants.
EDIT 10/24/24 -- I watered the patio plants, picnic table, septic garden, amethyst garden, and maple garden.
I've seen a male and a female cardinal separately, a bluejay, and a fox squirrel in the forest garden.
EDIT 10/24/24 -- I watered the savanna seedlings, prairie notch, white garden, telephone pole garden, grass patch, and then the prairie notch again.
Far on the horizon, I can see a line of thundercouds towering up, their tops flattened by wind shear. I don't know if any of them will actually produce rain, or that it'll reach this far if they do, but we could sure use all the rain we can get. Everything is bone-dry here, even with me watering as much as I can.
EDIT 10/24/24 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.
As it is getting dark, I am done for the night.
