Today is cloudy and cold. It snowed a little last night, just a light dusting, enough to look sparkly.
I haven't been out to feed the birds yet, but I have seen a pair of cardinals and a female downy woodpecker in the forest garden. The male cardinal was staying high up in the tree to play lookout while his mate ate. <3
EDIT 1/13/23 -- I fed the birds. There was a male cardinal in the forest garden, and after I went back inside, a male downy woodpecker came to the suet feeder. :D

Yes ...
I like my downies too. They sound like squeaky toys. When I go outside to refill the feeders, they get in the trees overhead and squeak at me.
