Walnuts are messy but have a lot of uses. The hulls make good dye -- you don't even need a mordant unless you want it more black than brown. The nuts are delicious. Squirrels love them too. :D

But yeah, raking the nuts away from the high-traffic areas, like the path to the ritual meadow, is a nuisance.
