Last few days

We had a couple really pretty days, then back to being pretty cold again. 

I've mostly been seeing the usual suspects - large flock of sparrows, cardinals, jays, mourning doves - but saw the Eurasian collared doves yesterday. They lived in the burr oak all summer. The Merlin app keeps pointing out the sound of a cedar waxwing, but I can never lay eyes on them (they are harder for me to hear usually because the sparrows are so chatty).  I would very much like to see one.  They have to be eating out of the compost bin and then hiding in the hedge.

They are beautiful birds. You can try attracting them with berries or fruiting plants. They will take raisins or other dried fruit, and mealworms.
